Please join us at the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art this Friday from 7 - 9 pm for the opening reception of Carrie Schneider's solo show: The Artist's Hand.  Meet the artist, enjoy some refreshments, and listen to the musical stylings of the Angela Walker Duo.  This event is free and open to the public.  The exhibit runs through September 26.

Carrie was born in Waukegan, IL in 1979 and graduated from Warren Township High School in 1997 as valedictorian.  In her senior year, she was co-editor-in-chief of the literary arts magazine, "Creations".  She was co-captain of the girls basketball team and was named to the News Sun's "All-County" team.  Her parents, Russ and Sue Schneider, still live in Gurnee, IL.

"Much of my work explores family, home and the relation of self to place, so the personal significance of getting to show my work for the first time in the community in which I was born and raised in not a small one."  Carrie Schneider

Carrie won a Project Track Individual Artist's Grant from the Illinois Arts Council to help produce the exhibition.  For more information on Carrie, please see my blog entry dated: Monday July 26, 2010: Save the date.
