NEW GALLERY SHOW
OPENING THIS FRIDAY AUGUST 20, 2010
Please join us at the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art this Friday from 7 - 9 pm for the opening reception of Carrie Schneider's solo show: The Artist's Hand.  Meet the artist, enjoy some refreshments, and listen to the musical stylings of the Angela Walker Duo.  This event is free and open to the public.  The exhibit runs through September 26. 

CARRIE SCHNEIDER'S LOCAL CONNECTION
Carrie was born in Waukegan, IL in 1979 and graduated from Warren Township High School in 1997 as valedictorian.  In her senior year, she was co-editor-in-chief of the literary arts magazine, "Creations".  She was co-captain of the girls basketball team and was named to the News Sun's "All-County" team.  Her parents, Russ and Sue Schneider, still live in Gurnee, IL.

"Much of my work explores family, home and the relation of self to place, so the personal significance of getting to show my work for the first time in the community in which I was born and raised in not a small one."  Carrie Schneider 

Carrie won a Project Track Individual Artist's Grant from the Illinois Arts Council to help produce the exhibition.  For more information on Carrie, please see my blog entry dated: Monday July 26, 2010: Save the date.

Last Weekend for Beyond Pixeltorialism: Digital Imaging in the 21st Century

For those of you who haven't seen this fantastic show, this is your last weekend to do so. Don't miss seeing what our Guest Curator Roland Miller feels are artists at the forefront of defining a new frontier in photography going beyond traditional aesthetics, techniques and concepts. The Gallery is open Monday - Thursday 8 am - 10 pm, Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm, Saturday 9 am - 4:30 pm and Sunday 1 - 5 pm.

Beyond Pixeltorialism: Digital Imaging in the 21st Century

This group photography exhibition at the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art, College of Lake County explores how digital photography is breaking new ground both aesthetically and technically. It features the varied works of eleven artists from the Chicago area and around the county.

Opening Night, Friday February 26, 2010 features a Gallery Talk at 6:15 pm by Guest Curator Rolland Miller: Professor of Photography, Dean of Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts Division, College of Lake County. Come hear about the work selected that demonstrates the breadth and innovative diversity that these digital image makers are exploring. After the talk, stay and enjoy the Opening Reception, 7:00 - 9:00 pm with live music by Vladimir Shifrin. Both events are free and open to the public.
