Having made pots now for over 30 years, I am surprised that it is still both a hopeful and troublesome effort to make a decent cup. The qualities that I search for in my work are fairly straightforward: a cup that does its duty well yet can stand on its own as a visual object. The favorite cups in my own kitchen have a relatively short life span, for they are loved to death.
